Professor Dr. Christoph Schalast

Christoph Schalast, born in Frankfurt am Main, studied law at the Universities of Frankfurt am Main and Lausanne, as well as European/international business law in Saarbrücken and Strasbourg. 

Following his admission to the Bar, he began his career working at an M&A boutique law firm(now Mayer Brown LLP). In 1995 he founded Schalast & Partner in Frankfurt am Main.

The main focuses of his work as attorney and notary are M&A, Real Estate and Banking and Finance.

Christoph Schalast is recommended by the JUVE Corporate Law Firms Handbook and the Legal 500 Germany. The financial magazine Wirtschaftswoche ranks him amongst the leading M&A attorneys in Germany.

He is chairman of the supervisory board of milch & zucker AG, chairman of the advisory board of the German Loan Purchase and Servicing Association (Bundesvereinigung Kreditankauf und Servicing e.V.) and chairman of Deutsche Kreditmarktstandards e.V.

At the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management he heads the innovative M&A Master’s Degree Program (LL.M Degree). He is also chairman of the annual NPL Forum and M&A/Private Equity conferences.

Since the early 1990s, Christoph Schalast has advised ministries and state institutions on legal reform and the harmonization of national laws with those of the European Union. He is co-author of laws drafted for Slovenia, Lithuania, Montenegro and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
