Dr. h.c. Hans-Joachim Otto
Hans-Joachim Otto, born in Heidelberg, studies law economics and sociology at the Universities of Munich, Heidelberg and Frankfurt am Main.
After completing his Second State Law Examination, Mr. Otto initially worked as a research assistant for the commercial law chair at the J.W. Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main. Since 1984, Mr. Otto has been a freelance attorney, first of all in a partnership with offices in several regions and until January 2009 as a founding partner of KMO Kestler Mielert Otto. Since 2000, Mr. Otto has also been admitted to practice as a notary. The focus of his work as an attorney is inheritance and succession law, IT law and media law as well as trust law. The focus of his work as a notary is in the areas of corporate and real estate law.
Hans-Joachim Otto has been a partner of the law firm since February 2009.
In addition to his career as an attorney, Hans-Joachim Otto has also been politically active for decades. He chairs the FDP Commission for Internet and Media and is a member of the Hesse state executive committee and the federal executive committee of the FDP. Since October 2009, Hans-Joachim Otto has been parliamentary state secretary to the Minister of Economics and Technology. For legal reasons, his admission to the bar remains dormant whilst he is a member of the German government.
