KONZEPTUELLE FOTOGRAFIE

Exhibition period: September 11, 2024 - March 31, 2025

ISABELLE BORGES I BJÖRN DRENKWITZ

MATHIAS KESSLER I SANDRA MANN

Contemporary conceptual photography is an art form that defines itself by emphasizing ideas and concepts over pure visual aesthetics. It aims to convey deeper thoughts or critical questions. This is often achieved through the deliberate staging, manipulation or contextualization of images. Against the background of the works of the internationally renowned artists exhibited here, Isabelle Borges, Björn Drenkwitz, Mathias Kessler and Sandra Mann, it becomes clear how diverse and multi-layered this form of photography can be. At the heart of conceptual photography is always an idea or a concept. Unlike traditional photography, where the image serves as a document of a reality, in conceptual photography the image is a medium for communicating complex or abstract ideas. This idea can relate to social, political, cultural or personal issues. It is often conveyed through a deliberate staging or manipulation of the image
