Frank Arretz, born in Wuppertal, studied law at the University of Freiburg im Breisgau and the University of Grenoble (Diplôme de Droit Français). He then worked at the University of Paris II and at the Conseil Supérieur de l'Audiovisuel (CSA) on broadcasting regulation. He also worked at the Franco-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Paris.
After taking his Second State Law Examination in Baden-Württemberg, Frank Arretz worked as a lawyer for a globally present American law firm. From the year 2000 onwards he established the Frankfurt office of a medium-sized German law firm with colleagues. He joined Schalast & Partner on 1 January 2014.
Frank Arretz specializes in banking law, regulatory issues and law of succession. He has supported clients with respect to licence proceedings in accordance with the German Banking Act and he predominantly advises to credit law and payment services as well as to insurance supervisory law. In inheritance law his focus is on the handling of complex inheritance cases, mostly with an international background.
Frank Arretz also represents his clients in disputes, both in and out of court. He has profound expertise in the area of conflicts relating to liability issues, as well as with respect to other contractual disputes.
His special geographic focus is on francophone countries. In particular, he structures distribution and cooperation agreements.
Frank Arretz is trustee for the guarantee asset of Athora Lebensversicherung AG and Athora Pensionskasse AG.
He is co-author of the works "Outsourcing von Problemkreditbereichen" and "Kontoführung & Zahlungsverkehr" and lecturer at Frankfurt School of Finance & Management, at Heidelberger Finanzcolloquium, and he is examiner at IHK Südlicher Oberrhein Freiburg (Chamber of Commerce, Freiburg). Frank Arretz is a member of the German Lawyers' Association (DAV) as well as in its working group of banking and capital market law, the Club des Affaires de la Hesse e.V., the German-French lawyer association and the German association for insurance science.
