31.05.2021, Press

The growth course of the law firm Schalast continues. On 1 June 2021, Janka Schwaibold (43) will join the firm as a partner and on 1 July 2021, Victoria Boss (39) will join as counsel at the Hamburg office. They will strengthen the Communications & Infrastructure practice group, which is headed by Dr Georg Berger. Janka Schwaibold and Victoria Boss come from BBH, where they have already been working closely together for five years.

Both lawyers have many years of experience in advising energy utilities in the areas of electricity, gas and heat. They conduct proceedings before courts, regulatory authorities as well as arbitration boards and support associations with statements in legislative and regulatory proceedings. Further notable expertise includes advising on energy infrastructure projects is also worth mentioning.

With this experience, Janka Schwaibold and Victoria Boss perfectly strengthen the firm. The Hamburg office now incorporates top-notch advisory know-how in regulated network industries. In addition, the Hamburg Banking & Finance partner, Dr. Roland Arlt, is specialised in advising on transactions in the renewable energy sector.

Prof. Dr. Christoph Schalast comments: "We are very pleased to be able to further raise the profile of our energy sector with two such well-positioned lateral hires. The willingness of Janka Schwaibold and Victoria Boss to join us documents that we have created a very attractive working environment - not least because of our growth strategy.."

Dr Georg Berger, head of the Hamburg office and the Communications & Infrastructure practice group, is pleased about the growth. "We have been advising on energy law for years,
mostly at the interface with antitrust/regulation and M&A. Now we can support energy supply issues even more comprehensively in a rapidly changing market. In addition, with our service provider Clarius.Legal, we have created an offering for all network industries by providing legal departments with technology-supported and standardised services."

Schalast had already grown at the Hamburg office at the beginning of the year, including the addition of the entire tax team around Oliver von Schweinitz and labour lawyer Christoph Thies.
