Biography

Catrin Groothues, born in Bensberg, studied law at the Universities of Münster and Hamburg after completing her training as a paralegal and notary’s clerk.

After working as a lawyer in a medium-sized law firm, Catrin Groothues started at the end of 2002 as an in-house lawyer at an investment management company, as subsidiary of the Hesse-Thuringia State Bank, which exclusively manages assets for institutional investors both in specialized funds and funds open to the general public. Catrin Groothues initially worked as executive assistant. Due to the increasing number of regulatory diktats for investment management companies, Catrin Groothues further developed and expanded the expertise and size of legal department and was appointed head of department in April 2007.

Catrin Groothues has excellent expertise in capital markets laws and has outstanding knowledge of the financial services industry due to her many years working as the head of a legal department. Her focus is therefore on advising clients on capital markets law issues, especially regulatory requirements.
