Dr. Joachim W. Habetha, LL.M.

Dr. Joachim Habetha is a lawyer and notary (official office: Frankfurt am Main). The focus of his attorney’s work includes advice to national and international clients on enterprise transactions and participations, family offices, board rooms and directorships as well as succession. Further, he advises on the structuring of groups of companies and owner-led enterprises.

Biography

Joachim Habetha, born in Schleswig-Holstein, studied law at the universities of Kiel/Germany, and Surrey/England.  He completed a post-graduate program at the European University Institute (EUI), Florence/Italy, with the Master of Legal Studies in Comparative, European and International Law (LL.M.). Also his doctoral thesis at the university of Kiel focused on company law, directors‘ duties and international private law. 

The start of his attorney’s career dates back to his admission to the bar in Frankfurt am Main in January 1995 with a German predecessor firm of Hogan Lovells International LLP. There he had been partner since 2000, before he joined Schalast & Partner as of the beginning of the year 2024. 

Since 2009 Joachim Habetha is also appointed as notary with offical office in Frankfurt am Main. 

Joachim Habetha is a member of the practice groups Corporate/M&A and Notary.

In the years 2009 – 2023 he has been continuously recognised with Best Lawyersâ„¢ for private equity in Germany. 

He publishes on topics of company law, M&A contracts and financial supervision. With a German seminar provider (Euroforum), he regularly gives seminars on the M&A contract in practice.
