Markus Ruhmann

Markus Ruhmann, born in Bremerhaven, studied law at the University of Bremen. He is a lawyer, a specialist in construction and architectural law, a specialist in public procurement law and a business mediator.

As a specialist lawyer for construction and architectural law, he specializes in advising on real estate business law, covering the entire value chain of commercial real estate business as well as real estate investments. Markus Ruhmann's range of activities includes advising on the corporate, tax and financial structuring of real estate projects, advising on building planning and building regulations law as well as on private building law, inter alia, in (forward) share and asset deals of real estate projects.

Markus Ruhmann has special experience in infrastructure projects, redevelopment of built-up areas and urban development. In the case of cross-border real estate transactions, Markus Ruhmann also coordinates all market entry measures and regulatory support for his clients, if required.

Markus Ruhmann is an experienced specialist in accompanying and advising public procurement and contract award procedures. He advises public clients such as cities, states, municipalities and federal and state institutions on the design and implementation of procurement procedures and planning competitions. He assists bidders both during the bidding process for public contracts and in contract award review proceedings.

Markus Ruhmann enforces his clients' interests both in and out of court as an experienced litigator. As an impartial mediator registered with the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce, he accompanies the parties involved in the independent, effective, out-of-court resolution of their conflict.

Markus Ruhmann has many years of experience in German-British business relations and received part of his training at a British law firm in the City of London. He is a long-standing member of the German-British Lawyers Association.

Markus Ruhmann is further a member of the Institute for Corporate Governance in the Real Estate Industry (ICG), the association promoting good corporate governance, compliance, social impact and ESG in the real estate industry.

Markus Ruhmann regularly gives lectures on his areas of expertise, including for the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce and Chamber of Crafts, and trains companies with regard to current legal developments.

As part of the ranking "Germany's Best Lawyers", surveyed annually by the Handelsblatt and the US publisher Best Lawyers, Markus Ruhmann has been ranked among Germany's best business lawyers every year since 2020.
