Jan Schneider, born in Darmstadt, studied law in Mainz after a few semesters of studying computer science. Therefore, it is not surprising that he focused on civil law and information technology law already during his studies and later during his legal clerkship.
Before joining Schalast, Jan Schneider worked as a lawyer at a large US law firm as well as in several medium-sized commercial law firms. Since 2008, he has been a specialist lawyer for information technology law.
Jan Schneider advises both providers and users in all areas of information technology law, new media law and related fields of law. His portfolio ranges from the legal structuring and support of "classic" IT projects such as system integration and outsourcing to advice on the design, distribution, provision and use of cloud services and other current IT and telecommunications services. Jan Schneider advises the public sector on the implementation of IT procurement procedures.
In the area of internet law, his focus is on advising providers in the development and implementation of business models, products and services of e-business and m-business. Adjacent telecommunications law issues are also covered, thus providing integrated advice. The examination, development, drafting and negotiation of contracts are an important part of Jan Schneider's work in all areas of IT law.
Data protection and IT compliance are a further focus of his advisory activities. Here Jan Schneider supports, among others, cloud providers and IT service providers in establishing an adequate level of data protection and develops innovative and practical data protection concepts for current and new IT services.
Jan Schneider is a frequently requested speaker and keynote speaker on current IT law issues: He is also co-author of several specialist books, including the well-known standard work "Handbuch der IT-Verträge" (Handbook of IT Contracts).
